Feenstra Applauds More Than $15.2 Million in FEMA Disaster Relief for Northwest Iowa
HULL, IOWA – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has awarded more than $15.2 million in federal disaster recovery grants to communities across Northwest Iowa following severe weather events.
The funding will support property acquisition, building and utility repairs, and assist local communities in rebuilding stronger and safer while protecting critical infrastructure from future natural disasters.
“It is essential that our communities have the resources and support needed to prepare for and recover from natural disasters,” said Rep. Feenstra. “This critical funding will help ensure Iowans are ready when disaster strikes and have the tools necessary to rebuild stronger than before while protecting vital infrastructure. I continue to work directly with FEMA administrators and federal officials to make sure Northwest Iowa receives the support it needs. I am pleased to have made important progress for our communities, and I will continue fighting to secure every federal dollar necessary to strengthen our communities and protect public safety.”
Through continued coordination with FEMA administrators, Department of Homeland Security leadership, and local officials across impacted counties, Rep. Feenstra worked directly to release the federal support needed to strengthen local infrastructure and ensure communities have the resources necessary to remain safe and resilient.
Congressman Feenstra is committed to working with FEMA and DHS to ensure impacted communities receive the additional support needed to advance long-term recovery and disaster preparedness efforts.
To date, Congressman Feenstra has worked with FEMA to deliver over $70,000,000 in disaster relief funds for Northwest Iowa.
The following grant allocations have been approved or released by FEMA across Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District, and include but are not limited to:
- More than $289,000 for property acquisitions in the City of Hawarden
- More than $3,156,000 for the Spencer Community School District
- More than $2,300,000 for parks and wastewater facility repairs in the City of Spencer
- More than $4,484,000 for the City of Rock Valley
- More than $370,100 for the Rock Valley First Reformed Church
- More than $164,000 for the Sioux County Conservation Board
- More than $2,290,000 for road repairs in Lyon County
- More than $1,721,000 for the Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative
- More than $424,280 for the Harrison County Rural Electric Cooperative
