Agriculture

Randy grew up working on farms, frequently walking beans and doing chores. His in-laws run a livestock and crop farm in Sioux County, where he helps out along with his wife and four kids – spending many weekends bailing hay, loading hogs, vaccinating cattle, and maintaining seven finishing sites.
He knows first-hand that corn and soybean growers -- along with our livestock, egg, dairy, poultry, ethanol, and biodiesel producers -- form the backbone of the 4th District’s economy. As the second largest ag producing district in the country, Randy serves as a voice for Iowa's hardworking farmers, giving them a seat at the table on the House Agriculture Committee.

More on Agriculture
Iowa farmers and ranchers are the backbone of our country, who wake before the sun rises to feed families and fuel our nation. However, while there is no more rewarding work, it can come with a series of unforeseen risks that can threaten our producers’ livelihoods. Farmers work long hours handling heavy machinery and working around unpredictable weather conditions with tight margins. These realities of farm work mean that one small mistake can change a life forever.
For too long, Iowa’s hog farmers have faced growing uncertainty because of California’s egregious Proposition 12. This unfair mandate has imposed costly, unscientific regulations on pork producers across the country – even though California produces less than one-tenth of one percent of the nation’s hogs. That is why I was proud that the Farm Bill included the Save Our Bacon Act, which I introduced alongside Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, to overturn Prop 12 and ensure common sense in our agricultural policy.
Farmers don’t have the luxury of waiting on Washington, D.C., gridlock and endless policy debates. In Iowa, agriculture is not just an industry, it is the backbone of our economy.
That’s why, as a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I was proud to pass the Farm Bill out of committee, to deliver a strong, five-year commitment to put farmers, ranchers and rural communities first.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) applauded the passage of the Farm Bill from the House Agriculture Committee and announced major legislative victories for Iowa agriculture. The Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 includes language from 15 bills that Feenstra introduced, 7 bills he co-led, and 4 bills that he co-sponsored.
Historically, Congress would pass a Farm Bill every 5 years with bipartisan support. Unfortunately, we are now nearing a decade since the last Farm Bill and Iowa farmers need Congress to act now more than ever.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped lead a resolution designating the week of February 21st through the 28th as National FFA Week. The National FFA Organization is a congressionally chartered, school-based national youth leadership organization with more than 1 million student members across 9,000 local FFA chapters nationwide. National FFA Week recognizes the organization’s impact and strengthens the relationship between Congress and the next generation of leaders in food and agriculture.
Farmers are the backbone of our country, the hardworking men and women who feed and fuel our nation. But too often, their needs are far from the focus of policy discussions in Washington.
Case in point: Every year, nearly 100 farmers in the United States lose their lives to the top cause of on-farm deaths: tractor rollovers. The tragedy is that these deaths are almost entirely preventable, and Congress can help.
As tax season gets underway, farmers and manufacturers across Iowa are once again sitting down with their accountants, reviewing receipts and making tough decisions about how to reinvest in their operations.
For many family farmers, tax season isn’t just tedious paperwork — it is a reminder of how much unnecessary federal policies and taxes affect their ability to survive, grow and pass their businesses to the next generation.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Reps. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) and Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) reintroduced the Advancing Cutting Edge (ACE) Agriculture Act – to double funding from $50 million to $100 million for the Agriculture Advanced Research and Development Authority (AgARDA) administered through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
U.S. Senators Roger Marshall (R-KS) and Michael Bennet (D-CO) have reintroduced companion legislation in the U.S. Senate.
As a lifelong Iowan and proud representative of one of the most productive agricultural districts in the country, I will always stand up for Iowa farmers and our rural communities. Since my first day in office, I have been committed to delivering real results for the farmers who feed and fuel or country and the world. Whether that be keeping our farmland out of the hands of foreign adversaries, keeping farmers safe on the job, or ensuring Iowa has a strong voice at the federal level, I take my job serving our producers very seriously.
