More on Budget & Spending
Since being elected to Congress, I have been committed to ensuring Iowa taxpayer dollars are used correctly and safeguarded from fraud. Families who work hard for their money do not deserve to have their taxpayer dollars wasted by their government. That’s why I am working with President Trump and my Republican colleagues to crack down on waste, fraud, and abuse in federal programs meant to help our most vulnerable.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull), member of the House Ways and Means Committee, joined Chairman Jason Smith and all Republican members of the Committee in sending a letter to the Acting Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Scott Bessent and IRS Chief Executive Officer Frank Bisignano to urge stronger oversight and accountability of the nation’s non-profit sector amidst the ongoing fraud scandal in Minnesota.
On November 12th, I voted to end the Democrat shutdown and reopen the federal government. For 43 days, Democrats forced our troops, border patrol agents, and Air Traffic Controllers to work without pay and hurt our farmers during harvest season to push their out-of-touch agenda. This political stunt by the Democrats caused unnecessary harm to Iowa families, farmers, seniors, and small businesses — and I’m glad it’s finally over.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted to end the Democrat shutdown and reopen the federal government.
If Democrats had succeeded and President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts were not passed on July 4th this year, families, farmers, and small businesses would have faced the largest tax increase in U.S. history. Over 210 million American taxpayers would have seen an average 22% tax hike, and the tax increase on an average family of four would have been the equivalent of almost two months’ worth of groceries. 40 million families would have also seen their child tax credit cut in half, draining dollars from budgets and wallets.
This summer, Republicans passed, and President Donald Trump signed into law, legislation that prevented the largest tax increase on American families, farmers, workers, and small businesses in history.
Had the first Trump tax cuts been allowed to expire at the end of this year, the average Iowa taxpayer would have seen a 25 percent tax hike while a family of four would have been forced to fork over an extra $1,400 — the equivalent of about eight weeks of groceries — to the federal government.
As a limited-government fiscal conservative, I strongly believe that, by responsibly cutting taxes for families, farmers, and businesses on Main Street, we can grow our economy and incentivize hard work.
As the adage goes, nothing in life is certain except death and taxes. From cradle to grave, Americans are required to pay taxes every step of the way. As Congress addresses our tax policies through the reconciliation process, we must be mindful of the death tax our family farms and small businesses face because of the loss of a loved one.
HULL, IOWA – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) introduced the Save Our Seniors Act, which would help protect the long-term solvency of Social Security by requiring the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to include the honest projection of its financial health in its annual ten-year economic outlook.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Friday July 4th, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) released the following statement after attending the signing ceremony for President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill.”
