More on Budget & Spending
HULL, IOWA – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) and U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Red Oak) introduced the Snap Back Inaccurate SNAP Payments Act, which would strengthen the integrity of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – commonly referred to as SNAP – by cutting down on overpayments of SNAP benefits. This legislation would increase the accuracy of SNAP payment error rate (PER) calculations by amending the tolerance level from $54 to $0.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra issued the following statement after he secured $1.7 million for Spencer Community Schools to assist with flood recovery and cleanup efforts:
At the end of this year, significant portions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), which was signed into law in December of 2017, officially expires. That means that – absent congressional action – taxes for Iowa families, farmers, and businesses will increase. As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I will be working closely with President Trump, Chairman Jason Smith, and my colleagues to reauthorize the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, build upon the major successes of this law, and prevent massive tax hikes on Iowans and Americans everywhere.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) formally joined the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus, which will work with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut reckless government spending, eliminate burdensome government regulations, and reduce our $36-trillion national debt.
At the end of July, our national debt peaked at $35 trillion – a figure once considered unthinkable. However, just 118 days later, our country surpassed another sobering milestone – $36 trillion in debt. This rapid accumulation of debt threatens our economic security, weakens the value of the dollar, emboldens our adversaries like China and Iran, and jeopardizes our longstanding status as the world’s reserve currency.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) issued the following statement after the national debt officially surpassed $36 trillion:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the National Taxpayers Union released its 14th annual “No Brainers” list of legislative reforms that benefit American taxpayers, which includes U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra’s (R-Hull) Save Our Seniors Act. This legislation would help protect the long-term solvency of Social Security by requiring the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to include the honest projection of its financial health in its annual ten-year economic outlook.
Earlier this year, our communities were hit by severe floods and powerful tornadoes that devastated homes, farms, businesses, hospitals, and schools. Crops were damaged, personal property was destroyed, and vehicles were totaled. Months later, families are still picking up the pieces and working to rebuild. But, even amid unthinkable tragedy, Iowans rallied around our neighbors to lend a helping hand because that’s just how we do things in Iowa. We help where we can and support our fellow Iowans when they need it most.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) and several of his colleagues on the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee released a request for information from relevant stakeholders on biofuel tax policy.
