Feenstra Announces He Will Forgo Congressional Pay During Government Shutdown
HULL, IOWA – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) announced that he would forgo his congressional pay during a government shutdown.
“On September 19th, I voted to keep the government open and prevent a shutdown that would hurt our seniors, veterans, and small businesses. This responsible approach ensures that we can continue the appropriations process, properly steward taxpayer dollars, and cut wasteful government spending from the federal budget,” said Rep. Feenstra. “Regrettably, Democrats have decided that, unless they can spend an additional $1.5 trillion in taxpayer dollars and give free healthcare to illegal immigrants, they will shut down the government. This unnecessary stunt will prevent Iowans from accessing vital services that they depend on to instead advance a partisan agenda. However, should the Democrats shut down the government, I will not accept a paycheck until a resolution is reached.”
