Feenstra Announces Winner of 2025 Congressional App Challenge in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District

HULL, IOWA – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) announced that Anneka Singh from Ames High School has won the 2025 Congressional App Challenge in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District.

Her app, ZeroWaste, aims to reduce food waste by classifying donations to food banks as either perishable or non-perishable and helps connect Iowans who want to donate to food banks in their communities.

“I want to congratulate Anneka Singh from Ames High School on winning the 2025 Congressional App Challenge in the 4th District! Her app, called ZeroWaste, helps direct Iowans to local food banks to make donations, ensuring that both perishable and non-perishable food can go to those in need,” said Rep. Feenstra. “It is great to see the next generation of Iowans engage in the emerging fields of technology and innovation, which are an important part of our economy. I’ll keeping working to ensure that young Iowans have opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive right here in our great state.”

The Congressional App Challenge is a nationwide competition that encourages students to learn to code and exposes them to the possibilities of a career in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
