Feenstra Applauds $3.8 Million in FEMA Disaster Relief for the City of Cherokee
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has awarded more than $3.8 million in federal disaster recovery grants to the City of Cherokee to assist with repairs to the Beach Street lift station.
“The lift station is a critical component of Cherokee’s infrastructure, and this essential funding will help repair the devastating damage caused in 2024,” said Rep. Feenstra. “Because the facility carries more than 99% of Cherokee’s wastewater to the municipal treatment plant, these federal resources are vital to protecting public health, environmental safety, and reliable wastewater service for residents and businesses. I was proud to work directly with FEMA administrators and federal officials to advocate for the resources our communities need, and I will continue fighting to ensure our district receives the support necessary to rebuild and recover.”
Through continued coordination with FEMA administrators and Department of Homeland Security leadership, as well as sustained outreach on behalf of impacted counties, Rep. Feenstra worked to help ensure Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District receives the federal support needed to rebuild critical infrastructure and restore local communities. To date, Congressman Feenstra has helped to secure over $65 million for communities in Iowa’s Fourth District. Congressman Feenstra will continue working with FEMA and DHS to help ensure Iowa communities secure the resources necessary for a full recovery.
