Feenstra Applauds $5.9 Million in FEMA Disaster Relief for Iowa

April 23, 2026

HULL, IOWA – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has awarded more than $5.9 million in federal disaster recovery grants to Buena Vista County, Cherokee County, and the City of Spencer following devastating floods and severe storms.

The funding will support critical infrastructure repairs, wastewater treatment facility upgrades, and transportation improvements across the region.

“Our communities have waited years for these essential disaster relief funds, and I am proud to announce that they are finally receiving additional resources needed to rebuild and emerge stronger than before,” said Rep. Feenstra. “The catastrophic damage caused by these storms has created serious safety concerns that must be addressed. This funding is vital to support families, farmers, businesses, and local governments as they recover. I have worked directly with FEMA officials and federal partners to advocate for these resources, and I will continue fighting to ensure our district receives the full support it needs to rebuild and recover.”

Through ongoing coordination with FEMA and DHS leadership, as well as sustained advocacy on behalf of impacted communities, Rep. Feenstra helped secure the federal support necessary to restore critical infrastructure and strengthen local communities. His office will continue working with FEMA and DHS to ensure Iowa communities receive any additional resources needed for a full recovery.

Examples of grant allocations across Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District include:

  • More than $2.2 million for the Buena Vista County Conservation Board
  • More than $2.3 million for the City of Spencer
  • More than $1.4 million for the City of Cherokee
