Feenstra Applauds Passage of Legislation to Support Expecting Mothers and Defend Iowa Pregnancy Centers
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act. This legislation would stop deliberate attempts by the Biden administration to prohibit funds for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program from supporting pregnancy centers.
Feenstra also voted to advance this legislation out of the House Ways and Means Committee last week.
“On my 36 County Tour, I have met with incredible staff at pregnancy resource centers in Sioux Center and Storm Lake who have committed their lives to serving expecting mothers and young families. These centers are not only a safe haven for vulnerable women, but also valuable support networks dedicated to helping new mothers navigate the challenges of pregnancy and costs of parenting,” said Rep. Feenstra. “Unfortunately, the Biden administration is working diligently to defund pregnancy resource centers by depriving them of their fair share of TANF funds. This is both unfair and infuriating. I’m proud to support legislation to deliver exceptional maternal healthcare for women in need, protect innocent life, and stop President Biden’s partisan attempts to close every pregnancy center in rural Iowa.”
