Feenstra Backs Legislation to Teach Dangers of Communism in the Classroom
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for the Crucial Communism Teaching Act, which would direct the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation to create a curriculum to educate high school students about the dangers and history of communism.
“According to recent statistics, nearly one third of America’s youth hold a favorable opinion of communism and nearly twenty percent believe that communism is better than capitalism. These alarming findings cannot be the norm for future generations of Americans if we want our country to succeed and prosper,” said Rep. Feenstra. “I voted for the Crucial Communism Teaching Act to push back against the spread of this dangerous ideology in our schools and educate our children about communism’s ugly past.”
