Feenstra Criticizes Biden Administration’s Failure to Finalize Biofuel Blending Volumes

July 11, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) released the following statement criticizing the Environmental Protection Agency for failing to finalize Renewable Volume Obligations (RVOs) for 2026 – 2028.

“The Biden administration’s failure to set Renewable Volume Obligations for 2026, 2027, and 2028 is inexcusable. Our farmers and biofuel producers are already facing inflation, high interest rates, low commodity prices, and regulatory burdens that place pressure on their bottom lines. The EPA’s decision to waste an additional 18 months before finalizing biofuel blending volumes just adds salt to the wound,” said Rep. Feenstra. “In a letter with Senators Grassley and Ernst in May, I already called on the Biden administration to increase RVO levels, which the EPA set far too low below actual production capacity and helped contribute to the biodiesel plant closure in Ralston. President Biden and Administrator Regan need to finalize higher RVO levels for the 2026-2028 period to deliver certainty and relief to our farmers and biofuel producers.”
