Feenstra Helps Introduce Parents Bill of Rights Act; Reaffirms His Commitment to Be Strong Voice for Iowa Families
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce legislation to affirm the fundamental right of every parent to be involved in their children’s education.
“Parents have a fundamental right to be involved in their children’s education,” said Rep. Feenstra. “Decisions about what to teach our kids are too often left to bureaucrats and teachers unions without any input from the most important stakeholders – parents and their children. As a father of four, I am proud to introduce the Parents Bill of Rights Act to ensure that every child can chase their dreams.”
The Parents Bill of Rights Act outlines five core principles that would apply to every school nationwide that receives federal funding at the expense of American taxpayers.
- Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught.
- Parents have the right to be heard.
- Parents have the right to see the school budget and spending.
- Parents have the right to protect their child’s privacy.
- Parents have the right to keep their children safe.
