Feenstra Joins Letter Urging President Biden to Secure the Border

February 2, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped send a letter – led by U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) – to the White House urging President Biden to secure the border and overturn his executive orders that created the worst border crisis in generations.

“Our border is wide open because President Biden refuses to enforce our nation’s laws and protect our communities. Instead, on his first day in office, he issued a slew of executive orders that stopped construction of the border wall, ended deportations, and prevented our border patrol agents from doing their jobs,” said Rep. Feenstra. “President Biden must overturn his reckless executive orders that have allowed drug traffickers, terrorists, foreign nationals with ties to China, and millions of illegal immigrants to pour over our border with no vetting whatsoever. I’m proud to join my Republican colleagues in urging the Biden administration to enforce the laws on the books, restart wall construction, and keep deadly fentanyl away from our kids and out of our rural communities.”

In part, the lawmakers wrote, “The U.S. Southern Border is being overrun by illegal immigrants. The responsibility for this crisis lies with you. Under your direction, your administration has intentionally and systematically undermined U.S. border security by perpetually refusing to enforce countless laws that have worked to secure our Southern Border and prevent illegal immigration.”

“On January 20, 2021, – your very first day in office – you immediately took executive action to halt border wall construction and issued a moratorium on deportations and immigration enforcement. Your administration has repeatedly ignored Congress’ authority and issued over 60 immigration and border policies that have clearly signaled to illegal immigrants, traffickers, and cartels that America’s borders are open,” the lawmakers continued.
