Feenstra Launches Agriculture Tour to Hear Directly from Iowa Farmers and Producers as Farm Bill Reauthorization Approaches
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – On Tuesday, during a press conference at Morningside University, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) launched his inaugural “Feenstra Agriculture Tour.” On this tour, Feenstra will meet with farmers, producers, and a wide array of agricultural businesses and organizations to discuss the upcoming Farm Bill, collaborate on legislative solutions to various challenges facing the agricultural community, and support the future of farming in Iowa.
“I am excited to officially launch my Agriculture Tour to hear directly from our farmers, producers, and agricultural community about their suggestions to protect the productivity of Iowa agriculture and their priorities for the upcoming Farm Bill reauthorization. In Iowa, agriculture is the backbone of our rural economy and thriving main streets, and we must work together to sustain this vital industry for generations to come,” said Rep. Feenstra. “Serving on both the House Agriculture Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee, I am working every day to defend rural America from out-of-touch attacks from D.C. bureaucrats. As the second largest agriculture-producing district in the nation, I will continue to be a strong voice for Iowa agriculture and our family farmers who feed and fuel our country and the world.”
Prior to his press conference in Sioux City, Feenstra toured the new Rosen Ag Center and Lags Greenhouse at Morningside University and discussed the importance of cutting-edge agriculture education with students and faculty.
The beginning of his Agriculture Tour proceeded as follows:
- On Wednesday February 22, 2023, Feenstra participated in a roundtable discussion with employees and leadership at Sorenson Equipment in Harlan where he discussed his Agriculture Tour, the Farm Bill, asset depreciation policy, and the estate tax.
- On Thursday February 23, 2023, Feenstra spoke at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition Luncheon with Ambassador Kenneth Quinn and U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks about Iowa’s status as the breadbasket to the world, international trade, and foreign animal disease prevention. He later participated in a town hall in Moorhead with cattle producers to discuss his Agriculture Tour, the Farm Bill, and his Cattle Price Discovery and Transparency Act.
