Feenstra Leads Iowa Delegation in Urging Congressional Armed Services Committees to Fully Fund Construction Projects at 185th Air Refueling Wing in Final National Defense Authorization Act

November 7, 2025

HULL, IOWA – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) led the full Iowa congressional delegation in sending a letter to the leadership of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee and the U.S. House Armed Services Committee urging that the military construction projects at the Sioux Gateway Airport included in the Senate-passed version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) be retained in the final conference agreement for the Fiscal Year 2026 NDAA.

The Sioux Gateway Airport is home to the Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing whose runway requires repair and replacement. Additionally, the letter calls for inclusion of the ADAL Aircraft Parking Apron and the Warm-Up/Holding Pad.

“I’m proud to lead the full Iowa delegation in urging leadership in the Senate and House Armed Services Committees to fully fund military construction projects at the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City as part of the final National Defense Authorization Act. This is the first time in U.S. history that support for the 185th ARW was included in any version of the NDAA, which is a huge win for the Iowa Air National Guard and the community of Sioux City,” said Rep. Feenstra. “These projects will help repair and replace the airport’s runway, replace the aircraft parking apron, and construct a warm-up and holding pad for the KC-135 Stratotanker. I will keep advocating that these critical military investments are funded and completed so that the 185th can continue to execute its mission flawlessly and professionally.”
