Feenstra Meets with EPA Administrator Regan

May 13, 2021

Today, Rep. Randy Feenstra -- who serves on subcommittees with jurisdiction over energy as a member of the House Agriculture Committee and House Science, Space, and Technology Committee -- met virtually with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan. This meeting comes after Regan visited Iowa to meet with farmers and to learn more about Iowa’s biofuel industry. Feenstra penned this column laying out several ways the new EPA administrator can help bolster biofuels.

During today’s meeting, Feenstra and Regan discussed including biofuels in climate and infrastructure discussions, R&D in ethanol production, finalizing E15 labeling rules, the future of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and proposing strong Renewable Volume Obligations (RVOs), adopting the GREET model to more accurately measure greenhouse gas emissions from biofuels, and the agency’s intentions regarding the burdensome Waters of the U.S. Rule (WOTUS).

Moving forward, Feenstra is hopeful that he can work closely with Regan to empower Iowa farmers and biofuel producers and to ensure they have a seat at the table.
