Feenstra Opposes Amended Budget Resolution

February 5, 2021

WASHINGTON -- After the House voted to approve the Senate’s amended budget resolution, Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-IA04) released the following statement reaffirming his opposition to massive spending programs that will drive the U.S. further into debt:

“This budget resolution is nothing more than an attempt by Democrats to use ‘COVID relief’ as a trojan horse for their progressive agenda. It paves the way for a massive deficit increase, further putting the United States in a financially perilous position.

“In the process, Democrats are rolling over procedural norms and skipping committee hearings, leaving the American people without a voice. Since this resolution is dealing with nearly $2 trillion in taxpayer money, their continued attempts to fast track the process are completely unacceptable.

“As a father of four, I firmly believe it is my responsibility as an elected official to leave this country better than I found it. That begins by balancing the federal budget and getting our country’s fiscal house in order. I am committed to standing up for American taxpayers, and I’ll always fight to enact fiscally responsible policies as a newly appointed member of the House Committee on the Budget. That is why I voted no on this reckless budget resolution.”
