Feenstra Reintroduces Legislation to Protect Unborn Babies with Turner Syndrome from Abortions
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week to honor the National March for Life, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) reintroduced the Protecting Girls with Turner Syndrome Act, to prohibit abortions performed solely because an unborn child receives a pre-natal diagnosis of Turner Syndrome.
Turner Syndrome is a rare genetic condition that affects roughly 70,000 women and girls nationwide. Multiple studies have indicated that a child diagnosed with Turner Syndrome is more likely to be aborted, despite many with the condition going on to live meaningful and successful lives.
“My faith teaches me that every child is created with dignity, purpose, and value,” said Rep. Feenstra. “No diagnosis justifies denying a child the right to life. This legislation would reaffirm that unborn children diagnosed with Turner Syndrome deserve the same protection as any other child. I am happy to reintroduce this bill to stand up for the most vulnerable and ensure that these women and girls with Turner Syndrome can go on to enjoy a happy and wonderful life.”
