Feenstra Sounds Alarm that National Debt Could Reach $144 Trillion in Three Decades
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) issued the following statement regarding the Congressional Budget Office’s annual long-term budget outlook, which was officially published in late June.
“The Congressional Budget Office – a nonpartisan federal entity – recently confirmed my worst fears about our ballooning national debt and worsening fiscal health. According to its projections, our national debt is estimated to reach $144 trillion by 2053, which would amount to $1 million per American household. This is a sobering preview of Bidenomics and its dangerous ramifications.
As a strong, fiscal conservative, I am working to end wasteful government spending, enact a federal balanced budget amendment, and restore fiscal responsibility to Congress for the wellbeing of our children and grandchildren. The status quo is no longer acceptable. We must reject President Biden’s tax-and-spend policies and get our fiscal house in order before China owns unsustainable amounts of our debt and our economy crumbles.”
