Floor Speech Nov 2021 2

As prepared for delivery:

I rise today in strong opposition to this reckless Social Spending Bill.

It’s simply wrong that, rather than funding mandatory spending programs -- like Social Security and Medicare, which are on the verge of insolvency in the next 10 years --  Democrats will instead create over 150 new government programs.

We still don’t even know the full budgetary impacts of this bill.

Although they are selling it as $1.75 trillion, the Penn Wharton Model estimates that these new programs will increase annual spending by $4 trillion and balloon our federal debt by 25% in 2050.

We are already seeing what reckless spending does to an economy.

Inflation is rising at the fastest pace in 30 years.

Families across the country are paying more for gas and groceries.

They should not have to pay the price for socialist policies.
