Feenstra-Sponsored Amendment to Build Border Wall Passes U.S. House of Representatives

June 28, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, which includes an amendment sponsored by U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull).

This amendment would call on the Department of Homeland Security to use money confiscated from the drug cartels by border patrol agents to support construction of the border wall.

President Biden has overseen the worst border crisis in our nation’s history. Since the beginning of his administration, nearly 8 million illegal immigrants have crossed our southern border, with another 2 million evading capture by Border Patrol. Even known terrorists and poisonous drugs are sneaking through the cracks of our open border,” said Rep. Feenstra. “My amendment directs the Department of Homeland Security to use money seized from the drug cartels to build the border wall and protect our communities. The cartels don’t deserve to keep a single penny of the money they’ve made smuggling deadly drugs into our communities. They should be in jail serving time for their crimes.”
