Feenstra Votes to End President Biden’s Attacks on American Energy Production

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, H.R. 1 – the Lower Energy Costs Act ­– which would cut burdensome red tape, lower gas prices for American families, reduce input costs for Iowa farmers, and end President Biden’s attacks on American energy production.

This legislation also includes a Feenstra-sponsored amendment – derived from his Defend America’s Rural Energy Act ­– which would prevent China from buying American farmland suitable for ethanol and biodiesel production. In Iowa, corn and soybean production constitutes roughly 94% of total crop yield. This figure underscores the urgency of protecting Iowa’s energy-producing farmland from China while making our country energy independent again.

“In 2019, the United States became energy independent for the first time in 62 years.However, on his first day in office, President Biden destroyed American energy production by killing the Keystone XL pipeline and outsourcing our energy needs to our enemies,” said Rep. Feenstra. “I am proud to support the Lower Energy Costs Act – which includes my amendment to prevent China from buying American farmland suitable for ethanol and biodiesel production – to lower gas prices for our families, reduce diesel costs for our farmers, protect our energy security, and end our reliance on foreign oil.
