Feenstra Votes to Hold China Accountable for Currency Manipulation
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the China Exchange Rate Transparency Act.
“China doesn’t play by the rules – never has and never will. There is no more egregious case than China’s manipulation of its currency to artificially lower the price of the goods that they manufacture and distort international trade. Currency manipulation particularly impacts Iowa farmers, their wallets, and their ability to freely sell their high-quality products all over the world,” said Rep. Feenstra. “I won’t let China take advantage of our farmers for their own financial gain. That’s why I voted to hold China accountable for unlawfully manipulating their currency and putting American farmers and businesses at a competitive disadvantage in global markets. As the top advocate in Congress for banning China from buying our farmland, I will continue my work to protect the economic interests of American families, farmers, and businesses over China’s deceitful actions.”
