Feenstra Votes to Prevent Creation of Central Bank Digital Currency

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act, which would prevent the Federal Reserve from authorizing the creation of a digital dollar.

“The creation of a digital dollar authorized and controlled by the Federal Reserve would invite serious overreach by the federal government and weaken the purchasing power of the dollar. Countries like China use digital currency to track and monitor the financial transactions of their citizens – a reality we never want to see in the United States,” said Rep. Feenstra. “Americans deserve financial privacy and protection from federal bureaucrats in the Biden administration who want easy access to our bank accounts. That’s why I voted to ban the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency so that we can keep Americans’ financial data secure and stop abuses by the federal government.”
