Feenstra’s Inquiry Helps Reopen Storm Lake Post Office Following Months of Closure

October 24, 2024

HULL, IOWA – Last week, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped reopen the Storm Lake Post Office after it was closed for roughly three months due to damage sustained from a car accident in July.

After being contacted by a constituent, Feenstra’s team immediately reached out to the Consumer Affairs Manager and the Storm Lake Postmaster inquiring when the Post Office would reopen and how they are assisting elderly and disabled residents during construction. Following Feenstra’s inquiry, construction wrapped up and approval was given for the building to reopen.

“Iowans – especially those in rural communities – rely on the post office to receive their mail, pay their bills, and get their prescription medications. For the post office in Storm Lake to be closed for months on end denies Iowans of this important service,” said Rep. Feenstra. “I’m glad the Storm Lake Post Office reopened and will allow residents to access their PO boxes and send mail in a safe atmosphere. I will continue to work to deliver for our communities.”
