Agriculture

Randy grew up working on farms, frequently walking beans and doing chores. His in-laws run a livestock and crop farm in Sioux County, where he helps out along with his wife and four kids – spending many weekends bailing hay, loading hogs, vaccinating cattle, and maintaining seven finishing sites.
He knows first-hand that corn and soybean growers -- along with our livestock, egg, dairy, poultry, ethanol, and biodiesel producers -- form the backbone of the 4th District’s economy. As the second largest ag producing district in the country, Randy serves as a voice for Iowa's hardworking farmers, giving them a seat at the table on the House Agriculture Committee.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for a bipartisan package to bolster Iowa’s biofuels industry, allow for year-round E-15 sales, strengthen agricultural and food system supply chains, and invest in groundbreaking precision agriculture technologies. The package includes five pieces of legislation that Feenstra helped introduce:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) testified before the U.S. International Trade Commission – a federal agency that advises the legislative and executive branches on trade-related matters – on the skyrocketing cost of fertilizer for American farmers.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Reps. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) and Cindy Axne (D-West Des Moines) introduced an updated version of their Cattle Price Discovery and Transparency Act to return fairness to the cattle marketplace dominated by four major meat packers. Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Jon Tester (D-MT), and Ron Wyden (D-OR) are leading companion legislation in the U.S. Senate. The Iowa Farm Bureau and the Iowa Cattlemen's Association are both supportive of this legislation.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, during a House Agriculture Committee hearing on the American cattle market, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) criticized the Big Four Meat Packers over their price-fixing shenanigans and anticompetitive behavior that are severely impacting Iowa’s small, independent beef producers.

Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) led a letter to President Joe Biden with 32 of his Republican colleagues urging him to quickly nominate two qualified individuals to the positions of Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Chief Agriculture Negotiator at the office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR). These roles have been vacant since the beginning of the Biden Administration, leaving American farmers, producers, and their families behind.

As I reflect on my first year of serving you in Congress, I am pleased by what we have accomplished together. I have been working hard to ensure your voice is heard in Washington, and that is why I quickly launched my 39 County Tour, secured seats on committees that impact our district – including the Agriculture Committee, and began pushing back against radical policies that infringe on your constitutional rights. While there is still plenty of work to do, 2021 is full of accomplishments that I am excited to share.
