More on Economy

In Congress, my top priority is – and always will be – protecting Iowa taxpayers. While President Biden and congressional Democrats have worked overtime to grow the size of government and waste trillions of taxpayer dollars advancing their socialist vision for our country, I have opposed their wasteful, radical agenda every step of the way and stood strong for American taxpayers and their families. Caught up in their liberal spending agenda, D.C.

After a 40-year decline in entrepreneurship, America has seen a boom in new business creation in recent years. But today, millions of start-ups and Main Street businesses are struggling to stay afloat under a host of recent challenges.

In 19 months, President Biden and Democrats in Congress have decimated what should have otherwise been a strong economic recovery from the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, their liberal policies have created the worst inflation crisis in 40 years, destroyed American energy independence, wasted trillions of taxpayer dollars on so-called Build Back Better and Green New Deal priorities, and emboldened China to threaten our status as the strongest economic powerhouse in the world.

For months, I’ve called on the Biden Administration to make E-15 available this summer and year-round. It’s a cheaper, cleaner alternative to regular gasoline that can ease the pain at the pump for Iowans during this unprecedented energy crisis. Finally, after much delay, President Biden authorized an extension for E-15 sales this summer during his recent trip to Iowa, providing some relief to Iowa families, farmers, and our rural communities.

In the United States, we are blessed with an abundant supply of energy – from ethanol and biodiesel to natural gas and oil – to power our nation and fuel our economy. Regrettably, just months ago, President Biden sold oil from our reserves to China to compensate for his war on American energy production. No price, no matter how high, justifies supplying China with American-made energy.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce, alongside U.S. Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL), the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act of 2023. This legislation would reassert Congress’s legislative authority and prevent excessive overreach by the Executive Branch in the federal rulemaking process. It would also require every new “major rule” proposed by federal agencies to be approved by both the U.S.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Toady, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce, alongside U.S. Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), the Ceasing Age-Based (CAB) Trucking Restrictions Act to alleviate trucker shortages that have contributed to the nation’s significant supply-chain bottlenecks. Under current law, drivers under the age of 21 are prohibited from transporting goods delivered at a U.S. port of entry to another location within the same U.S. state.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) issued the following statement after he was selected by his Republican colleagues to serve on the influential U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee during the 118th Congress:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Monday, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) penned an opinion piece titled “The new House GOP majority will focus on the economy” as part of the Washington Examiner’s “Restoring America” campaign.

HULL, IOWA – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act led by Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE), which would repeal the IRS enforcement funding in the Democrats’ so-called Inflation Reduction Act and prevent the Biden Administration from hiring 87,000 new IRS agents to target middle-class families and small business owners.
