WASHINGTON -- As a member of the House Committee on Agriculture, today Rep. Randy Feenstra (IA-04) participated in a hearing entitled, “Rural Broadband -- Examining Internet Connectivity Needs and Opportunities in Rural America.”

HAVELOCK, Iowa – Today, Congressman Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa) and U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) met with local business owners in Pocahontas County, along with leaders of the Northwest Communications Cooperative Association (NCCA), to discuss rural broadband in Iowa and ways to expand reliable internet throughout the state.

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Randy Feenstra (IA-04) partnered with Rep. Ron Kind (WI-03) to introduce the Enhancing Credit Opportunities in Rural America (ECORA) Act, which would remove taxation on income from farm real estate loans made by community banks. The ECORA Act will benefit farmers, families, and rural communities across Iowa by allowing more institutions to offer affordable credit to rural and agricultural borrowers.

WASHINGTON -- Today during a House Budget Committee markup session on the $1.9 trillion “COVID relief” bill, Rep. Randy Feenstra (IA-04) criticized the partisan approach Democrats have taken -- using it as a trojan horse to advance their political agenda rather than taking a temporary, targeted approach that will benefit all Americans.

On Monday, August 10, 2020, a massive storm system with high winds and isolated tornadoes tore through the Midwest, leaving a 700 mile path of destruction in its wake -- from Nebraska all the way to Indiana. In Iowa, early estimates indicated that 43 percent of cropland was impacted across the state, flattening millions of acres of corn and soybeans, crippling grain bins, and tearing barns and machine sheds apart.

WASHINGTON -- On Wednesday, the House Agriculture Committee held their markup on the $1.9 trillion stimulus bill. Rep. Feenstra (IA-04) proposed several amendments, including one to provide relief for producers who were impacted by natural disasters in 2020. It would include damage from storms with high winds, like the derecho that impacted approximately 43 percent of cropland in Iowa last August.
