Last month, the country learned the tragic news that 22-year-old Laken Riley – a nursing student from Georgia – was murdered by an illegal immigrant while out on a jog in broad daylight. As a father of four, my heart breaks for the friends and family of Laken who are enduring unimaginable pain right now. As an American, I am outraged that President Biden refuses to secure our border and keep our communities safe.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the Laken Riley Act in honor of 22-year-old Laken Riley who was murdered by an illegal immigrant while out on a run. This legislation specifically requires Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to take custody of illegal immigrants who commit theft, burglary, larceny, or shoplifting.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) announced that Mr. Scott Schneidermann would be his guest at this year’s State of the Union address. Mr. Schneidermann is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Frontier Bank and Frontier Insurance and Realty in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the Preventing Maternal Deaths Reauthorization Act. For 15 years, I served as a volunteer emergency medical technician (EMT) in my hometown of Hull. From responding to emergencies to transporting patients to local hospitals, my time with the Hull Ambulance Service was both informative and eye-opening. To this day, my passion for preserving and expanding emergency medical services (EMS) in our rural communities stems from my experiences as a volunteer EMT.
President Biden and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have created the worst border crisis in generations. Their open-border policies have left our nation vulnerable to evil forces and jeopardized the safety of our families and rural communities. Iowa families deserve a secure border and safe communities.
In the United States of America, every child deserves a loving family to call their own and a safe place to call home. Our foster care system plays an integral role in fulfilling this mission and connecting vulnerable children with families who are able and prepared to support their growth, health, and success. However, our foster care system also faces enormous challenges – from foster home shortages to low retention rates of foster families – that prevent vulnerable children from finding a caring home.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce legislation – the Combatting High Inflation Limiting Daycare (CHILD) Act – to help Iowa families cover the skyrocketing cost of childcare by doubling the annual contribution limit for tax-advantaged Dependent Care Flexible Savings Accounts (DCFSAs). The contribution limit would also be adjusted for inflation.
Agriculture is the economic engine of Iowa. When our farmers and producers are successful, our economy grows, our main streets thrive, our businesses invest in new employees and finance expansions, and our rural communities grow stronger. As is obvious from our endless fields of corn and soybeans and our countless hog, cattle, and poultry operations, we grow and raise more than we can consume and sell in Iowa – or even our country.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) – alongside the entire Iowa congressional delegation – sent a letter urging the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to approve year-round sales of E-15 beginning this year. Currently, the EPA has authorized year-round sales in eight states – including Iowa – beginning in 2025.
