Agriculture

Randy grew up working on farms, frequently walking beans and doing chores. His in-laws run a livestock and crop farm in Sioux County, where he helps out along with his wife and four kids – spending many weekends bailing hay, loading hogs, vaccinating cattle, and maintaining seven finishing sites.
He knows first-hand that corn and soybean growers -- along with our livestock, egg, dairy, poultry, ethanol, and biodiesel producers -- form the backbone of the 4th District’s economy. As the second largest ag producing district in the country, Randy serves as a voice for Iowa's hardworking farmers, giving them a seat at the table on the House Agriculture Committee.

From droughts and derechos to record inflation and rising interest rates, crop insurance is a vital safety net for Iowa farmers and producers. When mother nature strikes, crop and livestock protections can be the difference between turning a profit or facing financial ruin.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the United States-Taiwan Initiative on 21st-Century Trade First Agreement Implementation Act. This legislation would establish the first-ever bilateral trade agreement between the United States and Taiwan and codify into law explicit congressional approval of any future trade agreement with any nation.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Reps. Randy Feenstra (R-IA) and Angie Craig (D-MN) introduced the Crop Insurance for Future Farmers Act, which would equip new producers, beginning farmers, and our veterans in the Midwest and nationwide with the crop insurance protections they need to be productive, profitable, and successful.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Reps. Randy Feenstra (R-IA) and Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) introduced the Safe American Food Exports (SAFE) Act, which would codify USDA’s role in negotiating regionalization agreements that allow livestock, poultry, and other animal products from unaffected areas of the country to continue to be safely exported in the event of an animal disease outbreak.

As a father of four, ensuring that our kids receive a quality education is a top priority for me. From trade schools to four-year universities, our great state offers our students many opportunities to further their education, develop the skills they need to enter the workforce, and live fulfilling lives. I am also proud that Iowa – particularly the 4th Congressional District – is home to phenomenal community colleges that prepare our students for the whatever the future holds.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce, alongside Rep. Trent Kelly (R-MS), the Community College Agriculture Advancement Act, which would equip community and technical colleges with the resources they need to expand agriculture education for their students and the next generation of farmers.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce – alongside U.S. Reps. Darin LaHood (R-IL), Dan Kildee (D-MI), and Dwight Evans (D-PA) – the Modernizing Agricultural and Manufacturing Bonds Act (MAMBA).

On July 1, 2020, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) – which was signed into law nearly two years earlier – entered into force, formally replacing the North American Free Trade American (NAFTA). True to its original intent, this law reduced trade barriers for our farmers, opened new markets for American agricultural exports, and established a revitalized framework for free and fair trade between the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of American farmers, producers, landowners, and rural communities over the Biden Administration’s radical Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

Rural America is the backbone of the American economy. Our farmers feed and fuel our country, act as good stewards of our land, and have represented the American identity for generations. They value hard work, live within their means, and support our communities. They never ask for recognition, but the result of their hard work is on display in every grocery store and meat counter across the country.
