Agriculture

Randy grew up working on farms, frequently walking beans and doing chores. His in-laws run a livestock and crop farm in Sioux County, where he helps out along with his wife and four kids – spending many weekends bailing hay, loading hogs, vaccinating cattle, and maintaining seven finishing sites.
He knows first-hand that corn and soybean growers -- along with our livestock, egg, dairy, poultry, ethanol, and biodiesel producers -- form the backbone of the 4th District’s economy. As the second largest ag producing district in the country, Randy serves as a voice for Iowa's hardworking farmers, giving them a seat at the table on the House Agriculture Committee.

More on Agriculture

American farmland is some of the most fertile and bountiful in the world. Despite derechos and droughts, nothing obstructs the resilience of our farmers. Our producers work long hours to grow the food and produce the fuel that our families and communities depend on. From cattle feed to homegrown ethanol and biodiesel, Iowa corn and soybeans lower prices at the pump, end our reliance on foreign oil, and support the vitality of the rural communities surrounded by these grains for months out of the year.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. This legislation included a Feenstra-sponsored amendment that would require congressional approval of any rule or regulation proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that would impact over 50% of American farmland.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce – alongside U.S. Reps. Dusty Johnson (R-SD), Adrian Smith (R-NE), Angie Craig (D-MN), and Mark Pocan (D-WI) – the Adopt GREET Act. This legislation would require the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to use the GREET model when calculating comprehensive emissions reductions and the environmental impact of Iowa ethanol, biodiesel, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

When it comes to American energy production, President Biden has made his agenda crystal clear. He prefers foreign oil over American energy, mountains of red tape over fewer regulations, federal mandates over individual choice, and higher prices at the pump over affordability for our families. Even worse, his actions confirm these preferences.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce the Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Reauthorization Act of 2023.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) signed a letter led by U.S. Rep. Brad Finstad (R-MN) – alongside 60 of his Republican colleagues – conveying to Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) the importance of the Farm Bill to rural communities and advocating for its swift passage.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Reps. Randy Feenstra (R-IA), Darin LaHood (R-IL), Adrian Smith (R-NE), and Dusty Johnson (R-SD) issued the following statement after meeting with Doug McKalip, who serves as Chief Agricultural Negotiator in the office of the U.S. Trade Representative, on Wednesday October 25th.

President Biden has abandoned and punished our farmers on every front imaginable. His new WOTUS rule invites federal bureaucrats to saddle Iowa farmers with costly red tape, his electric vehicle mandates threaten the vitality of our biofuels industry, and his economic agenda jeopardizes longstanding provisions in the tax code to strengthen Iowa agriculture.

Over the last two years, poor decision making in Washington has increased costs for our families, farmers, and small businesses. The average mortgage rate nationwide has nearly eclipsed 7% as the Federal Reserve continues its aggressive rate hikes, inflation remains at historic highs, and small business optimism has plummeted to a 10-year low.
