More on Economy
On Wednesday June 11th, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins traveled to Capitol Hill to testify before the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Agriculture Committee, respectively. As the only member of Congress serving on these two pivotal committees, I had the opportunity to speak directly with these incredibly talented cabinet secretaries who are delivering on President Trump’s economic and agricultural agenda.
In the 1800s, American settlements began appearing across Iowa’s sprawling prairies. Families, young and old, ventured out West, braving terrifying prairie fires, tornadoes, and uncertainty, in search of a better life. Early communities were often built around families coexisting and growing together. In 2025, not much has changed. Iowa’s landscape is dotted with small towns occupied by family names dating back generations. This is one of the things that I love most about Iowa.
On the morning of Thursday May 22nd, my Republican colleagues and I voted to pass President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” and kept our promises to the American people. This legislation delivers massive tax cuts for Iowa families, farmers, workers, and small businesses while making historic investments in domestic manufacturing, rural development, farm security, and American energy production.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, as the only member of Congress serving on both the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Agriculture Committee, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted to advance the tax and agricultural portions of President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” out of each committee.
Every year, during National Small Business Week, we recognize and celebrate the contributions that our small businesses make to our economy and our communities. From family-owned-and operated enterprises spanning generations to young entrepreneurs pursuing the American Dream, the spirit of hard work, resilience, innovation, and ingenuity is alive in small towns and flourishing cities across Iowa’s 4th Congressional District.
In 2017, President Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) into law, cutting taxes for hardworking families, encouraging investment in farms and businesses, and unleashing economic growth and prosperity. These historic tax cuts allowed millions of American workers to keep more of their hard-earned money, freed up cash for small businesses to expand and hire new employees, helped farmers finance equipment purchases, and lowered the financial costs of raising children through a stronger child tax credit and the creation of a new Paid Family and Medical Leave Tax Credit.
HULL, IOWA – Earlier this month, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce – alongside Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) – the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act, which would mobilize private investment to construct new, affordable homes and revitalize existing homes to attract and keep families and businesses in Iowa.
This legislation would support the construction or rehabilitation of roughly 500,000 homes for middle- and low-income families.
HULL, IOWA – This Congress, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce, alongside U.S. Rep. Max Miller (R-OH), the Permanent Tax Cuts for American Families Act, which would make the enhanced standard deduction – first established by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017 – permanent.
This enhanced deduction is set to expire at the end of 2025 absent congressional action.
In 2017, during his first term, President Donald Trump signed into law the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a historic economic achievement and long-overdue reform of the U.S. tax code. The TCJA — also known as the Trump Tax Cuts — had numerous benefits, with families, farmers, workers, and businesses receiving much-needed tax relief.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Reps. Randy Feenstra (R-IA) and Darin LaHood (R-IL) – alongside more than 100 original cosponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives – introduced the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act, which would support the financing and development of affordable housing in rural communities and nationwide.
