In Iowa, nearly one in five jobs are connected to agriculture, a far cry from many other states. That’s no surprise for those of us who have grown up on family farms and have called rural Iowa home for our entire lives.

From corn, soybeans and biofuels to dairy, cattle and hogs, Iowa farmers grow the food and fuel that nourishes and powers our country and the world.

On May 12^th, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released its “Officers Killed and Assaulted in the Line of Duty, 2024 Special Report,” which revealed that law enforcement agencies reported nearly 86,000 assaults on law enforcement officials in 2024, with 64 feloniously killed in the line of duty. These statistics represent an increase from 2023, when 79,000 officer assaults were reported and 60 officers were feloniously killed in the line of duty.

For four years, under the radical policies of the Joe Biden administration, our border was opened to the entire world and illegal immigration was not only exacerbated but encouraged.

Drug cartels sneaked through the cracks, criminals entered with no questions asked, individuals with known connections to terrorism broke our laws, and millions of illegal immigrants crossed our border without even a slap on the wrist.

For four years under the Biden administration, rural communities were left behind, if not completely forgotten. Farmers faced a nearly $50-billion agricultural trade deficit, record high inflation squeezed budgets, and net farm income fell by roughly $41 billion — the largest two-year decline in U.S. history.

On June 17^th, President Trump’s Border Czar, Tom Homan, reported that border patrol encountered just 95 illegal immigrants attempting to cross the entire southern border. That is the lowest number of encounters in 24 hours ever reported. Under the Biden administration, crossings were over 10,000 each day. Mr. Homan went on to report that in the month of May, zero apprehended illegal immigrants were released from custody.

Among the many incredible provisions of President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” is funding for the Department of Defense. In light of current events around the globe, there is no better time for delivering President Trump’s vision for U.S. military power. 

In 2017, President Donald Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) into law, cutting taxes for hardworking families, encouraging investment in farms and businesses, and unleashing economic growth and prosperity. These historic tax cuts allowed millions of American farmers, workers, and families to keep more of their hard-earned money. Farmers were able to better finance their farm equipment, businesses were able to reinvest their savings into their machinery, software, and employees, and families saw real tax relief.

For the past four years, the American people struggled to keep their heads above water. Facing a tidal wave of government red tape, unchecked inflation, and economic uncertainty, voters spoke their minds at the polls. “Bidenomics” clearly wasn’t working, and Americans weren’t interested in a copy-and-paste shell of the last administration in former Vice President Kamala Harris. Voters resoundingly chose President Donald Trump’s promise of a more prosperous future.
