According to our great Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, real wages for hourly workers are up nearly 2%. Growth of this magnitude hasn’t been seen for 60 years. Under President Trump’s first term, American workers saw similar growth of about 1.3%. Both of his terms are in stark contrast to Biden’s -1.7%. One thing is clear; President Trump’s policies are great for American workers.

Last November, Rural America voted in landslide numbers for President Trump and elected Republican majorities to Congress. My home county – Sioux County, Iowa – delivered President Trump his largest margin of victory in the state of Iowa with 85% of voters supporting his candidacy. This huge win in rural Iowa and in rural communities nationwide comes as no surprise to those of us who live in small towns. We elected President Trump because he strongly supports our farmers, stands with our families, and cares about America’s heartland.

On June 4th, FBI Director Kash Patel reported the arrest of a Chinese national who was allegedly caught smuggling a dangerous, potential biological weapon into the United States. According to the report, the Chinese national—Yunqing Jian—was traveling with samples of fusarium graminearum. This fungus can cause “head blight” in wheat, corn, and other grains, as well as causing health problems in humans and livestock. It should be of little surprise that both Jian and her accomplice, Zunyoug Liu, have ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

When President Trump took office in January, he had quite the mess to clean up. Inflation ran unchecked under the Biden administration’s disastrous economic policy and the American middle class was left in the dust. Energy utilities and services quickly became economic stressors for homeowners and renters alike. Biden’s “Green New Deal” policies rewarded outsourcing our energy production to other nations—even to adversarial nations like China.

One, Big, Beautiful Bill.”

That’s what President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress have dubbed our legislation to honor the mandate given to us by the American people and deliver on our promises to families, farmers, workers, manufacturers, and businesses.

Since the last election, we have worked to put together this package of tax cuts, border security, manufacturing revival and energy dominance to unleash American economic prosperity and bring investment to our country.

Under the Joe Biden administration, purchasing an electric vehicle was not merely a suggestion for Iowa families; it was a de facto mandate.

In 2021, President Biden signed an executive order requiring that 50 percent of new vehicle sales be zero-emission by 2030, officially kick-starting his mission to electrify as many cars, trucks, tractors and semis as quickly as possible.

As the adage goes, nothing in life is certain except death and taxes. From cradle to grave, Americans are required to pay taxes every step of the way. As Congress addresses our tax policies through the reconciliation process, we must be mindful of the death tax our family farms and small businesses face because of the loss of a loved one.

On Thursday April 24th, I continued my 36 County Tour meeting with Iowans in Webster and Hamilton counties. This tour is a promise that I made to my constituents when I was first elected to Congress, pledging that I would visit all 36 counties in our district – Iowa’s 4th Congressional District – at least twice each year. To date, I have made nearly 350 individual stops, visiting farms, biofuels plants, hospitals, schools, universities, main street businesses, and manufacturers.

On Wednesday April 23rd, as part of my 36 County Tour, I visited the Iowa Veterans Home (IVH) in Marshalltown with Commandant of the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs, Todd Jacobus. I had a phenomenal tour of their facilities, met with incredible staff, and spoke with countless veterans, thanking these amazing American heroes for their service to our country. As a grateful nation, it is our duty to provide our veterans with the high-quality healthcare and benefits that they have earned and deserve.

When President Trump returned to the Oval Office early this year, he immediately announced a new and much-needed plan for the United States’s national security — “Peace through strength.” President Trump assumed the presidency with the world on fire. Conflicts raging across the Middle East and eastern Europe, a nuclear Iran enriching uranium to dangerous levels and supplying arms to our other adversaries, and an emboldened China. “Peace through strength” was not just a moniker, it was a message to our enemies across the globe that we were no longer going to lead from behind.
