More on Energy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, legislation sponsored by U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) was included in the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee’s National Quantum Initiative Reauthorization Act.

American farmland is some of the most fertile and bountiful in the world. Despite derechos and droughts, nothing obstructs the resilience of our farmers. Our producers work long hours to grow the food and produce the fuel that our families and communities depend on. From cattle feed to homegrown ethanol and biodiesel, Iowa corn and soybeans lower prices at the pump, end our reliance on foreign oil, and support the vitality of the rural communities surrounded by these grains for months out of the year.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce – alongside U.S. Reps. Dusty Johnson (R-SD), Adrian Smith (R-NE), Angie Craig (D-MN), and Mark Pocan (D-WI) – the Adopt GREET Act. This legislation would require the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to use the GREET model when calculating comprehensive emissions reductions and the environmental impact of Iowa ethanol, biodiesel, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

When it comes to American energy production, President Biden has made his agenda crystal clear. He prefers foreign oil over American energy, mountains of red tape over fewer regulations, federal mandates over individual choice, and higher prices at the pump over affordability for our families. Even worse, his actions confirm these preferences.

Supply chain delays. Disorderly retirements of dispatchable electric generation. Complex regulations on power plant emissions. Regional warnings about a lack of generation capacity to cover electric demand. Permitting delays for needed electric transmission infrastructure.

American fuel retailers, corn growers, ethanol producers, and our families face unnecessary uncertainty year after year awaiting the Environmental Protection Agency’s arbitrary, last-minute waivers to allow for the summertime sale of E-15 at gas stations nationwide. This unpredictability raises gas prices for American families, prevents fuel retailers from consistently marketing low-cost, low-carbon E-15, and threatens the livelihoods of corn growers and ethanol producers not only in Iowa, but across the Midwest.

Since the beginning of his administration, President Biden has weaponized the heavy hand of government to tilt the scale in favor of policies that he supports – absent any congressional action or approval whatsoever. From his burdensome WOTUS rule on our farmers to his ridiculous plan to hike mortgage payments on responsible taxpayers to subsidize home loans for folks with low credit scores, the President has demonstrated that he will take any action necessary to advance his liberal agenda.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act. This legislation combats the Biden administration’s proposed emission standards rule that would limit the sale of new vehicles with internal combustion engines and, thus, require electric vehicle sales to increase from 6% to 67% of all U.S. automobile sales by 2032.
