More on Energy

January 3rd marked the beginning of the 118th Congress and our new Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. Across our nation, more than 54 million Americans entrusted Republicans with their confidence and their vote. Now, they rightfully expect us to deliver conservative victories for our country and our communities.

In today’s world, electricity is essential. American families rely on electricity daily to heat and cool their homes, wash their clothes, cook their meals, charge their phones, turn on the lights and connect to the world. And while it might seem like magic, electricity is not generated out of thin air. We expect the lights to turn on when we flip a switch and our phones to charge when we plug them into an outlet.

Over the last several years, the debate surrounding the future of electric vehicles has quickly taken Congress – and the country – by storm. While the notion of zero-emission, carbon-neutral vehicles sounds attractive, too many lawmakers, industry leaders, and government officials have prioritized an electric agenda over real concerns about the reliability and affordability of a government-mandated, EV transformation for hardworking families.

For months, I’ve called on the Biden Administration to make E-15 available this summer and year-round. It’s a cheaper, cleaner alternative to regular gasoline that can ease the pain at the pump for Iowans during this unprecedented energy crisis. Finally, after much delay, President Biden authorized an extension for E-15 sales this summer during his recent trip to Iowa, providing some relief to Iowa families, farmers, and our rural communities.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the Strategic Production Response Act to mandate that the Biden Administration organize and deploy a concrete plan to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) following a non-emergency drawdown of oil reserves.

In the United States, we are blessed with an abundant supply of energy – from ethanol and biodiesel to natural gas and oil – to power our nation and fuel our economy. Regrettably, just months ago, President Biden sold oil from our reserves to China to compensate for his war on American energy production. No price, no matter how high, justifies supplying China with American-made energy.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act. This legislation prohibits the sale and export of crude oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to China.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) helped introduce the Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2022 alongside his Midwestern colleagues Reps. Angie Craig (D-MN) and Adrian Smith (R-NE). Feenstra is an original cosponsor.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) introduced the Quantum in Practice Act, which would amend the National Quantum Initiative Act to include quantum molecular simulations and modeling in federal scientific research. More specifically, quantum molecular simulations and modeling will allow experts to study chemical elements and reactions with impressive accuracy.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) was named an “American Energy Champion” by the American Energy Alliance for his legislative record of promoting affordable, abundant, and reliable American-made energy. Feenstra received a perfect 100% score.
